This program is the National Guide Certification training that meets the Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources requirements to become a licensed tour operator. The program has a strong birdwatch component
developed in partnership with the National Audubon Society.
It is designed to train participants to become nature guides and prepare them for sustainable work within tourism and outdoor education.Students will have both virtual theoretical and in-person practical application. Participants will develop the skills need to become basic bird guides and conduct interpretive nature tours throughout The Bahamas. The program has a strong science component where
students gain an understanding of fish biology and behavior and marine environment and conservation.

- There are 13 skills and proficiency-based modules for this program.
- Online Theory are 1 -2 hours evenings.
- In person Field Practical and Emergency First Responder Training
- Bahama Host offered online classes in evenings starting October 21 st 2024 – November 7th 2024
- Emergency First Responder Training in person
Submit a Government issued ID and other supporting documents such as recent passport sized photo,recent medical certificate and valid police record to admissions@bamsibahamas.edu.bs to begin the
registration process.

This price is non refundable, non transferable and includes tuition, course materials and the following fees:
administrative, practical, technology, library, academic resources, external training and testing fees.

Scholarship Opportunity
The Youth Empowerment Scholarship is an exciting new program designed to empower and enable eligible youth to achieve their passion and purpose within the industry.
AWARD AMOUNTS
The scholarship is a one-time contribution to their success in the Nature Guide Training program. Recipients are expected to maintain satisfactory attendance, participation, performance and provide feeback and testimonials of their learning journey and overall experience both during and upon successful completion of the program.
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
A Bahamian citizen
Between the ages of 18 to 30 years
Enrolled in the Nature Guide Program In financial need and express a keen interest in the field
Application Deadline
Deadline for Applications for the 2023 scholarship cycle will be AUGUST 20TH 2024 at 12 noon. Recipients will be notified by SEPTEMBER 4TH 2024.
Funding Guidelines
Funds are applied directly to the recipient’s BAMSI student account to help defray program cost. Funds are not sent to student’s personal bank account.
