This program is the National Nature Tour Guide Certification training that meets the Ministry of Tourism, Investments and Aviation, the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources requirements to become a licensed tour operator. This program has a strong birdwatching component and introduces students to the natural history of The Bahamas.
It is designed to train participants to become nature guides and prepare them for sustainable work within tourism and outdoor education. Students will have both virtual theoretical and in-person practical application. Participants will develop the skills need to become basic bird guides and conduct interpretive nature tours throughout The Bahamas.

IN-PERSON PRACTICAL TRAINING BEGIN SEPTEMBER 13th, 2025. WEEKEND FIELD SESSIONS IN ABACO and LONG ISLAND.

PROGRAM SUMMARY:
- There are 13 skills and proficiency-based modules for this program.
- Online Theory are 1 -2 hours evenings.
- Bahama Host offered online classes in evenings
- First Aid Certification
Submit a Government issued ID and other supporting documents such as recent passport sized photo, recent medical certificate and valid police record to admissions@bamsibahamas.edu.bs to begin the registration process.
COURSE FEE: $750
Registration fee (due at the time of registration): $75*
The registration fee is non refundable, non transferable and includes tuition, course materials and the following fees:
administrative, practical, technology, library, academic resources, external training and testing fees.

Scholarship Opportunity
The Youth Empowerment Scholarship is an exciting new program designed to empower and enable eligible youth to achieve their passion and purpose within the industry.
AWARD AMOUNTS
The scholarship is a one-time contribution to their success in the Nature Guide Training program. Recipients are expected to maintain satisfactory attendance, participation, performance and provide feedback and testimonials of their learning journey and overall experience both during and upon successful completion of the program.
Eligibility
Applicants must be:
- A Bahamian citizen
- 18 years old - 30 years old
- Enrolled in the Nature Guide Program In financial need and express a keen interest in the field
Application Deadline
Deadline for Applications for the 2025 scholarship cycle will be AUGUST 20TH 2025 at 12 noon. Recipients will be notified by SEPTEMBER 5TH 2025.
Funding Guidelines
Funds are applied directly to the recipient’s BAMSI student account to help defray program cost. Funds are not sent to student’s personal bank account.
