Student Code of Conduct
The Bahamas Agriculture and Marine Science Institute (BAMSI) is committed to academic excellence, workforce readiness, national development, and personal growth. As the nation’s premier institution in agriculture, marine science, environmental sustainability, and the blue economy, BAMSI fosters innovation, integrity, and leadership in service to The Bahamas beyond.
We celebrate the individuality, talent, and cultural diversity of each member of our community. At the same time, we recognize that our success depends on mutual respect, shared responsibility, and collective commitment to excellence.
Purpose and Philosophy
For BAMSI to fulfill its mission of “Feeding Minds, Growing Greatness,” it is essential that we maintain an environment where all members of the community are able to grow:
- Intellectually through rigorous academic instruction and hands-on training
- Professionally through practical experience and industry exposure
- Socially and emotionally through respectful engagement
- Ethically through integrity and accountability
- Physically and environmentally through safe and sustainable practices
To ensure this environment is preserved, BAMSI has established a Student Code of Conduct. This Code is educational in nature. It exists not merely to enforce rules, but to promote responsibility, character development, and personal growth.
When a student’s behavior interferes with the Institute’s mission or the rights of others, the conduct process provides an opportunity to determine responsibility and, where appropriate, facilitate positive change.
Growth occurs when individuals recognize missteps, accept accountability, and commit to improvement. Every member of the BAMSI community is expected to uphold personal dignity while respecting the dignity of others.
Scope of Application
This Code applies to:
- All full-time and part-time students
- Undergraduate, certificate, continuing education, and non-degree students
- Students enrolled in on-campus (North Andros), hybrid, online, extension, or satellite programs
- Students participating in fieldwork, internships, research stations, farm operations, marine field stations, or off-campus BAMSI-sponsored activities
Students remain accountable for their conduct whether on campus, in the community, online, or representing BAMSI in any capacity.

Each case will be reviewed fairly and impartially.
Community Responsibility
BAMSI is a community rooted in national service and sustainability. Students are not only learners—they are future agricultural leaders, marine scientists, environmental stewards, entrepreneurs, business moguls and public servants.
All students share responsibility for:
- Maintaining a safe and orderly campus environment
- Encouraging responsible peer behavior
- Reporting serious violations that threaten community wellbeing
- Upholding the Institute’s values and reputation
- Commitment to Growth
The Student Code of Conduct is not merely a regulatory document—it is a reflection of BAMSI’s commitment to shaping responsible, ethical, and resilient graduates.
By enrolling at BAMSI, students agree to abide by this Code and to actively contribute to a campus culture defined by integrity, respect, sustainability, and excellence. More information can be found in the Student Handbook.
Together, we remain committed to Feeding Minds and Growing Greatness—for ourselves, our communities, and the future of The Bahamas.
